Last seen at 3 a.m. near Prospect Avenue
Mariah Cockshell, 26, was last seen at about 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in the area of 54th and 55th Streets and Prospect Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, near a gas station. She had recently gotten off work and was wearing a pink sweatshirt and black scrub pants. The Gladstone Dispatch, her hometown paper in Gladstone, put her last known whereabouts near 54th and Prospect at around 2 a.m. that night.
Gladstone police said she was believed to have been in danger at the time. Her family reported her missing — the Gladstone Dispatch reported the family filed the report on March 24 — and said it was unlike her to be out of touch with them for this long. She has not been heard from since.
The appeals: March, August, September
Local coverage began within days. KCTV5 reported in March 2025 that investigators were seeking the missing 26-year-old, who was believed to be in danger, and the Gladstone Dispatch published her photograph and description the same month. The Missouri State Highway Patrol also circulated her case.
In August 2025, approaching the six-month mark, the Gladstone Police Department renewed its appeal to the public for information, urging anyone with knowledge of Mariah’s whereabouts to contact the TIPS Hotline. On September 16, 2025, the department issued an updated missing-person bulletin, noting that Mariah was last seen with brown hair, publishing photographs of the full sleeve tattoo on her left arm, and pointing out the clothing pictured in the bulletin — the outfit she was last seen wearing.
In September 2025, national coverage noted the frustration of people close to the case at how little attention it had received. Unconfirmed claims circulating on social media — that Mariah had gone to collect belongings from an ex-partner’s home that night — were reported at the time; the ex-partner denied any involvement and said she never arrived. Police have not publicly confirmed those accounts, and no one has been charged in connection with her disappearance.
The Charley Project, the national missing-persons database, added her casefile in April 2026. Her family was still publicly pleading for information at the one-year mark. There has been no confirmed sighting and no confirmed contact since March 22, 2025.
What is not known
Police have not publicly said where Mariah went after she was seen near Prospect Avenue, who she was with, or what happened to her. No vehicle has been publicly linked to her disappearance, no search location has been announced, and investigators have released few leads. Whether she left the area on foot or in a car, and whether the danger police believed she was in that night is connected to her disappearance, remain unanswered.
