The night she left

Kamile Stover was staying at a group home in the Gaylord Avenue area of Cleveland’s east side when she walked away on March 25, 2026. She was last seen in the 9300 block of Gaylord Avenue, near East 93rd Street, wearing a black t-shirt and white pajama pants with red hearts.

Police noted that Kamile is known to frequent the area of East 105th Street and Ansel Road — a detail investigators released to help people recognize places she might return to. On April 8, 2026, the Cleveland Division of Police issued a public appeal for help locating her.

Her case file, maintained by the crowdsourced missing-persons database Solve the Case, has been updated repeatedly since March and still shows the case as “Open” — with its most recent update dated September 25, 2026. More than half a year after she vanished, no one has reported finding her.

A mother’s appeal

By late April, Kamile’s mother, Latisha Jackson, went public. In an interview with Cleveland 19 News published April 28, 2026, she described the constant worry of a parent whose child has been gone for weeks on end.

“Every time I try to sleep or eat or do anything, she’s just on my mind 24/7,” Jackson said.

Jackson said her daughter had run away before — but never for this long. “She has run away before, but she’s came back like within a few days. It’s never been this long,” she said. She believes Kamile may be with other people, as in a previous incident, and said she intends to press charges against anyone found to have been keeping her daughter.

“Whoever is keeping her, I do want to prosecute because it’s been over a month and she’s a minor and I did not give you permission to have her that long,” Jackson said.

She also hung flyers throughout the area, posted about the case on social media, and spoke directly to her daughter through the camera: “I love you, Kamile. All your family loves you. We need you here. We miss you.”

Where the case stands

Kamile Stover is a 12-year-old girl missing from Cleveland for more than six months. The Cleveland Division of Police worked urgently to locate her in the spring, her mother kept the case visible into the summer, and the Solve the Case database continued to carry her case as open through late September 2026.

These cases are easy to overlook. A runaway case involving a child in group-home care rarely draws national attention, and each month that passes makes it harder to keep her face in front of the people who might recognize her. That is exactly why her mother has refused to let the case go quiet — and why keeping her file visible still matters.

Kamile is 12 years old. A child that age cannot legally consent to stay away, cannot work, and depends on adults for food, shelter and clothing — her mother’s questions in April (“How could she eat? How she’s been able to change her clothes?”) are the practical heart of this case. If Kamile is still in Cleveland, someone is almost certainly helping her stay hidden, knowingly or not. Police have pointed the public to two areas above all: Gaylord Avenue near East 93rd Street, where she was last seen, and East 105th Street and Ansel Road, which she is known to frequent. Anyone in those neighborhoods — or anywhere in Cleveland — who sees a girl matching her description should call police rather than approach her, and note the time, place and direction of travel.
